Small sliders with tiny knobs for the fingers are used to set the numbers. The top row has red small plates inside for the 5 and the 1s have green plates. One benefit is that this Abacus works in every condition, you can move and shake it, hold it backwards, upwards, upside down and so on and the set sliders ~ numbers will stay in their position.
It’s the perfect school abacus for all landscapes and living conditions, where you can also use it for example during a long bus or train ride between school and home. If you move the last one on the bottom to the top, you also move (push) the beads above – and in the other direction it’s the same too. So the number handling and finger movements are exact the same like with an tradition abacus made out of wood.
The different colors on the beige background provide a clear difference between 5 and 1s and make it easy for children to understand and learn to handle & memorize everything.

I really like this version and it shows that you can follow and remain the old, traditional, analog concept, but still increase the look and the accessibility for new starters / children in different living conditions. A great movement & idea!
